imperishables

In front of you as I sit
hoping to inscribe something on your chest
undecipherable covert messages
advisory hieroglyphics or mysterious advertisements
morphing into sempiternal questions
rendering that flesh indestructible
the amaranthine engravings on mortal body
encased in a jar to preserve and ponder
written perhaps in a dead language
or a cautionary tale of alien interference
oh, the chaos and ages of question
ticketed exhibits of anthropological remnants
In front of you as I sit
watching the quaking earth
skies dissolved in wounded screams
an unbound elimination by incidental extinction
cacophonous orchestra of natural disintegration
beehive pattern of emerging holes
molten earth in oozing sores
of burnished gold, orange and fire
a spot of amber ready to safeguard
the torn out chest encasing a tiny heart
in profusion of scribbles with ink and knife
gouging words in small poems of demise
and unspoken lines, left out for another time
I soon begin to write.
